Since 1981 Depeche Mode have produced some great music, from early days pop of Just Can’t Get Enough, thorugh the rockier Personal Jesus or I Feel You to Precious & John the Revelator off their best album in years back in 2005, Playing the Angel. Since that album, they have released 3 albums which were alright in places, but not consistant quality.
However, with the tracks released so far from the latest album, Memento Mori, it sounds like we are in for a cracker.
First single Ghosts Again was described by singer Dave Gahan as being a ”perfect balance of melancholy and joy”, and it’s a really good track.
And then, this afternoon, they ahve released another track, My Cosmos is Mine. This is a very different beats, harking back to the industrial vibe of the early 1990s.
The album is out on 24th March and I’m really looking forward to hearing what they have come up with this time. And if you get chance to see them live, I would do it. I’ve seen them a couple of times and they are brilliant.
