I can’t believe how long I has been since I last posted on here. Sometimes, life just gets in the way. The title of the post not only applies to the fact that it’s been so long since I was around, but also to the band I’m featuring today…….Metallica!
It took the band 8 years to go from album one Kill ‘Em All in 1983 to album five Metallica in 1991. However, the gaps between albums started to grow, from 1996’s Load to 2016’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, the band went on a journey that changed their sound which alienated, if not actually angered some fans, especially with the St Anger (quite apt really) album in 2003.
Another seven years have now gone by since their last album, but it seems they have been busy behind the scenes, working on album number 11, 72 Seasons, which is due for release in April 2023. And if the first taste of it is anything to go by, it’s going to be a stormer!
Lux Æterna is a barnstormer of a single, that has had fans getting very excited for what is to come with the new album. It’s the most foreright, in your face track they have done in years. There’s no messing about, it’s got everything that made many fall in love with the band all those years ago. The riffs are immense, Lars’ drumming is full throttle and James’ vocals are just stunning.
I wouldn’t describe myself as a massive Metallica fan, but bloody hell, this is a great song!
