Listen – London Grammar – Baby It’s You

I’ve been a fan of London Grammar for a very long time. I first heard them when they released their Metal & Dust ep in 2013 and loved the sound they made. It was beautiful. Since then, I’ve seen them in concert twice, and bought both their albums, 2013’s If You Wait which I thought was brilliant, and 2017’s Truth Is a Beautiful Thing, which was ok, but not as good as their debut.

The first time I saw them live was at Lie at Leeds festival, and one of the friends I was with hadn’t heard of them, but when they started, with Hannah Ried’s haunting and beautiful voice, and the brilliant musicanship of Dan Rothman and Dot Major, she was a fan straightaway.

This week after a few years away, their old Instagram posts were all deleted, replaced by a new picture. Then they announced that Radio One would have the premiere of their new single Baby It’s You the next night. And boy, what a great return it is. It’s possibly the most uptempo they have sounded, and Hannah’s voice while still beautiful, now sounds even better than before.

I for one, can’t wait for a new album after hearing this track.
